Greg began his career as a team assistant at Blake Global, an international commercial real estate valuation and due diligence firm. In the summer of 2005, he worked in the North American Sales & Marketing headquarters for Dorchester Group Hotels, a small portfolio of five-star properties owned by the Sultan of Brunei. This past summer, he interned for Trinity Hotel Investors, a global hospitality investment group, specializing in the underwriting and financial modeling for the company's current and prospective investments. During the academic year, Greg serves a teacher's assistant for a finance class and performs treasury services for his fraternity. This upcoming summer, Greg will be working at Barclays Capital as a Summer Analyst in their Commercial Mortgage Backed Securities (CMBS) division.
Annie began her career as a real estate investor as a rising sophomore. After letting go five years of science oriented studies, she took her first steps into the world of finance by achieving her salesperson license for New Jersey. During the summer of 2006 she purchased and managed her first foreclosure home for rent. Annie personally handled many of the county documents and mortgage forms needed for the transaction. In the same summer she also fixed and sold a home in less than three months. She is a member of Metropolitan Real Estate Investors Association, and is currently exploring a career as a real estate consultant.
Zoe began working in the hospitality industry at age 16 where she interned in operations at the Lanesborough Hotel in London. She continued to delve into the industry by working at Sodexho Corporate Food Service and The St. Regis Hotel, New York. At Sodexho Corporate Food Service she was an Assistant Restaurant Manager. At The St. Regis Hotel, New York, Zoe worked in Sales and Marketing where she was in charge of tracking data for their top ten clients and for facilitating site inspections. This past summer, Zoe worked for Starwood Hotels of New York on their Business Transient Sales Team. She was in charge of their mystery shopping program, tracking revenue, and forecasting Year End average room night revenue. At Cornell University, Zoe serves as a Marketing Researcher, a Teaching Assistant for two marketing classes and a Teaching Assistant for Restaurant Management. She is also the Vice President of Ye Hosts Honorary Society and the Student Committee for Continuous Improvement.
A broad range of work experiences, extensive traveling, and an accelerated education has prepared Christina for her consulting position with CHC. Christina pursued her two-year college degree while still in high school, and after graduating as valedictorian of her class, she took eight months to volunteer abroad and travel around the world. In addition to her extracurricular experiences, Christina has worked in the restaurant industry for several years before beginning to pursue more hotel-oriented work experiences. During the summer of 2007, she worked as a concierge with Abigail Michaels Concierge, the leading concierge company for luxury condominiums in New York City. This summer, Christina will be pursuing a more international experience with Movenpick Hotels and Resorts in Zurich, Switzerland. A junior at Cornell, Christina is involved with student organizations like Hospitality Students International and the Student Advisory Board, in addition to being the Lead Teaching Assistant for Business Computing and a member of the Hotel School's Honors Society, Ye Hosts.
Beka is a junior at Cornell's School of Hotel Administration, concentrating in Real Estate Finance. She began her career in hospitality during high school, and has since worked in both the retail and service side of the industry as a server and customer service representative. At Cornell, Beka is the Director of Special Events for her sorority and a student ambassador for both the Hotel School and the University. Recently, Beka cultivated her interest in the hospitality industry by working as a finance and marketing intern for The Cornell Club-New York, where she helped to plan, manage and execute the summer membership drive through web-advertising and fundraisers, as well as aiding in the revision of the Club’s annual budget through financial statement analysis and Excel modeling. After much research and exposure to various aspects of the industry, Beka has decided to purse a passion in real estate and will be joining Lehman Brothers?Global Real Estate Group as a member of its summer 2007 analyst class.
Christi Lockwood is a senior at Cornell’s School of Hotel Administration interested in Hospitality Sales and Training. She spent her past summers sharpening her skills in these areas through internships with companies including Four Seasons and Starwood Hotels and Resorts. Throughout the course of her hospitality career, Christi has completed tasks ranging from redesigning training materials to increase effectiveness and creating new employee training programs to completing product and market research to offer methods to maximize sales effectiveness and firm competitiveness. She also spent two summers abroad in Germany, where she gained experience in areas including hotel and restaurant operations, marketing, and customer relations - not to mention intercultural relations. Christi hopes to begin a successful career in Hospitality Sales and Training upon graduation from the Hotel School this spring.
Gregory is a sophomore at Cornell’s Hotel School with an interest in entrepreneurship, sustainable tourism/development and renewable energy. His entrepreneurial spirit resulted in the creation of Entwined Revolutions, a business he created as a result of discovering a wave theory. Applying the wave theory to a tennis racket, he was able to create a racket capable of enhanced control. Interested in both engineering and tourism, he has become very involved in sustainable tourism and development with a particular focus on renewable energy. Gregory’s experience includes having worked as a yield management analyst at Le Parker Meridien hotel in Manhattan. His prevailing interest and expertise in sustainable tourism has led him to also work for Expedia where he assisted creating their benchmarks for a sustainable destination. He is currently researching the business implications of biomimicry: a revolutionary science that is the process of taking what nature has perfected and applying it to human needs. Specifically his research concerns marketing and supply chain management.
Ray Lansigan graduated from Columbia University with a BA in Economics. He was recruited to Integrated Healthcare, a management consulting firm, where he advised hospitals and physician practices on strategy and operations. Ray chose Cornell for his MBA studies in order to transition to a career in the hotel industry. This summer, he will intern with Harrah’s Entertainment in Las Vegas as a President’s Associate.
Ray is also enrolled in classes at the Hotel School to tailor the management skills built in his MBA curriculum to the hospitality industry. Additionally, he is engaged in various hospitality consulting projects, most notably developing a strategic plan for a multi-property resort in El Salvador.
Evan is a freshman at the Hotel School interested in a concentration in corporate marketing and communications. Before he arrived to Cornell in the fall of 2007, he gained IT and management experience as a College Student Technician and Intern with Lockheed Martin in Endicott, NY. With this internship, his main responsibilities included researching potential technologies for development, writing reports on marketing strategies, and outlining IT procedures for managers. He also gained business operations experience working in many restaurants—most recently, an upscale, Asian restaurant in Vestal, NY called Lemongrass Kitchen & Lounge. Graduating Class of 2007 Valedictorian from Vestal Senior High School, Evan has been awarded the Thomas J. Watson IBM Memorial Scholarship and four more awards since he has been at Cornell, including the Cornell School of Hotel Administration 50th Anniversary Scholarship. To further his interest in communications, he is part of The Cornell Daily Sun student-run newspaper as a Junior Staff Sportswriter, and he will be helping with production of the Cornell sports talk show, The Red Light. For the summer of 2008, Evan plans to pursue an internship opportunity at WIVT/WBGH News Channel 34 in Binghamton, NY to learn more about marketing and communications. Along with the Hotel School, Evan also loves fitness, food, and sports.
